I am contacting you in hope that maybe you can help with rehoming my beloved dog Sophie. She is a mix breed possibly poodle and pyreneese. Approx 4 -5 years old and weighs about 40 lbs. she is fixed and up to date on all shots and flea/tick meds. She was housebroke but due to changing circumstances I had to put her outside in the fence. She is very intellegent so im sure with a little patience and reassurance she could easily be put back on a routine and reminded of her manners. However she is not one to be left for 8+ hours, i dont think she could hold her pee that long.. i usually took her out every 3-4 hours to avoid accidents, she never went to the door or let me know she had to go she would just quietly dissappear to the back bedroom where she would urinate and then reappear looking guilty. she does sit on command but likes to jump on visitors for them to pet her. she does not chew or have any bad babits. I rescued her from a shelter in knoxville, tn before she was put down. They couldnt tell me much about her other than the people that dropped her off didnt speak any english. when i got her home she walked and did fine on a leash but was a little timid. when the leash was off to let her run in the fence she became wary and would not leave my side..she didnt really exhibit any playful behavior or seem to know what a toy was. she was even wary of one of those nasty looking bones dogs are supposed to love. she doesnt burry her treats but takes them to a corner of the yard and drops them in a pile.. after working with her for about a month we built her confidence and now she loves to run and play-- but she still does have some weird but cute quirks. She can for no reason be crated or locked up becuase she has panic attacks, she wants to be in the same room with you if not in your lap otherwise she appears to become nervous. i guess it could be compared to a codependency issue. She also prefers and loves to curl up in the bed beside you and is a great snuggle buddy. she does fine with storms, vacuumes and other loud noises. she does fine with other dogs, and my two cats, however if an unfamiliar cat comes by the fence she wants to chase it. she is fenced with a billy goat and the goat is picking on her.. i had never heard her bark untill the goat tried to "play" by head butting and chasing her. she loves to be around children but has a tendencey to jump so i have concern for smaller children. she does require routine grooming and will not eat certain types of food. She will need to be in a home with a fenced yard or with someone who is able, eager, and willing to provide her with exercise. She is a runner if she ever gets out of the fence or off her leash. but all i have to do i ride around with my window down hollaring "sophie lou!!" and she comes running. However she hasnt gone more than 2 streets over when she got away, but she is fast and gets excited and the only way she will come to me is if im in the car. so needless to say she loves to ride and does great in a car. due to change in circumstances i am no longer able to give her the attention she deserves. I am hoping you may be able to pair her with the perfect forever home. I have posted an add on local craigslist and local facebook pages with no luck finding her the right fit. I have prepared an adoption application asking for vet, and personal references. I also ask that her new family own their home and are able to provide evidence of financial stability. Her grooming can easily cost up to $100.00 a month. I am also asking to visit any possible homes, with sophie to observe her interactions with all members of the family and to make sure she will be the perfect fit. I know this is alot to ask but i do believe there is the perfect home for her, i jsut have to find it. she is an awesome dog and deserves an awesome life.
